1. Specify the installation envelope, not just the fan size
Start with the universal fan catalogue, then define what your installation can accommodate. A nominal size such as 10 or 12 inches is a search label, not a complete fit specification. Ask for the proposed model’s dimensioned drawing and identify which dimension the size label describes.
Record blade diameter, overall frame width and height, maximum depth including the motor, mounting-hole positions and clearance around nearby components. Keep dimensions in millimetres even when the product name uses inches. Agree the measuring points so that your available-space drawing and the supplier’s drawing can be compared directly.
State whether you need a standalone fan, mounting hardware or a larger kit. “Universal” does not establish compatibility with every vehicle or replace the review needed for a custom installation. For an OE-matched complete assembly, use the separate radiator fan buying checklist; this guide focuses on dimension-led universal fan sourcing.
2. Define pusher or puller and ask how airflow was measured
Specify the fan’s intended position relative to the radiator and the required airflow direction. Use “pusher” and “puller” alongside a simple layout sketch so that both sides understand the arrangement. Ask for the offered model’s stated configuration and instructions; do not assume every universal fan is reversible or that changing wiring is the approved method.
When comparing airflow in CFM or m³/h, request the test voltage and whether the figure is measured at zero static pressure or at a stated pressure. If available, ask for the airflow-versus-pressure curve. Compare offers on the same basis rather than ranking products by the largest unqualified airflow number.
A free-air rating alone does not establish performance in your cooling pack. Share the intended radiator/condenser layout and duty requirements with the technical reviewer. Any required cooling-capacity assessment belongs to that application; no generic diameter or catalogue image proves that a fan will meet it.
3. Confirm electrical data and sample acceptance
Ask for the exact model’s rated supply voltage, operating current and available starting-current information, together with connector details and the required control arrangement. Clarify whether a harness, relay, fuse, controller or mounting components are included, optional or supplied separately. Do not infer electrical requirements from fan diameter or a similar-looking motor.
Have a qualified technician review the fan and the proposed circuit for the intended application. Before a volume order, agree what a sample evaluation will cover: drawing dimensions, airflow direction, electrical identification and any operating checks you need. Request a reference-specific report where required and record its test conditions and scope.
Keep the agreed acceptance criteria with the supplier model and revision. Ask which changes to motor, blade, connector or frame require renewed approval. This makes a repeat purchase traceable even if the marketing description stays “universal electric fan.”
4. Separate variants in the wholesale order
Send Yongshang Cooling one inquiry line per approved configuration. Separate different voltages, dimensions and airflow arrangements instead of placing them under one generic fan-size description. State your destination country and delivery place; importers should ask which packaging and product documents are available for their order.
- Supplier model, drawing revision and required kit contents.
- Quantity by variant, sample quantity and minimum order quantity per variant.
- Unit price, currency, packing quantity and external carton dimensions.
- Lead time, payment terms and delivery basis with a named place.
- Carton labels that distinguish variants and the agreed process for discrepancies.
Use the wholesale inquiry guide for the commercial request format. Save the approved drawing, sample decision and final quotation with your purchase order. Availability, samples, MOQ and delivery dates require current confirmation.
Can I order different universal fan sizes together?
Ask Yongshang Cooling to review your proposed mix and confirm the minimum quantity and terms for each variant. A shared inquiry does not establish a shared MOQ.
Does the largest CFM number identify the best option?
No. Check the measurement conditions, installation requirements and electrical data before comparing the offered models.
